Material Regulatory Compliance Module

This module is an extremely simple, yet powerful tool, which can carry out many useful tasks. These range from being a valuable source of information on hundreds of materials and substances, along with any legislation restricting there use, to being a powerful tool to satisfy REACH, and easily generate Material Safety Data Sheets. This module also creates the foundation for the rest of the EDT, as it contains much eco-data, including standardised material data for products impacted by the European Energy Using Products Directive (EuP).

New records can be created and existing records edited, so this module can be tailored by users to meet all their needs. In addition to this the tool never gets out of date. New materials, substances and legislation is continually being added into the website, and this data can be easily downloaded and automatically inserted into the the tool's databases.

Supply Chain Management Module

Use this module to maximise the eco-performance of your parts and products. With its inbuilt easy to use interface you can use it for many tasks including demonstrating due deligence for the EU RoHS, or for informing the labeling requirements under the Chinese RoHS, or for identifying what parts need to be separated for end-of-life treatment under WEEE or for satisfying the requirements of the EuP directive and driving design improvements.

The module contains the standised data developed by VHK and being used by the preparatory study groups for the EuP directive. Companies can either use this data or there own data to analyse bills of materials and drive environmental product design improvements. The module will never get out-of-date since it is kept updated from the PlesTech website, and scripts inside the module automatically update the records once downloaded.

Environmental Product Legislation Reference Source: The 'Materials Regulatory Compliance' module of the EDT allows the user to see what legislation controls the use of particular substances. The tool contains over a thousand substance records, and more will be continually added which can be downloaded easily from the web. In addition to this the user can easily add their own records, both to the document database containing the legislation and the substance database.	X
Database to store and control substances/materials used by a company: The 'Materials Regulatory Compliance' module of the EDT is a very versatile and easy to use database for both materials and substances. Password control allows only users with editing rights to create, change or delete records. Besides creating records and entering the data, you can also import and export data by a number of different methods including Excel, XML, OBDC and many other formats. All new and modified substance and material records created by PlesTech are put on the PlesTech website. Selecting the file from within the EDT automatically loads the data into the EDT.	X
Substance and Materials physical environmental data: Includes chemical formula and diagrams, physical parameters such as molecular weight, density etc.
Powerful materials and substance application search engines: Includes features like being able to find what banned substances could be found in a particular product (e.g. resistor, copper alloys, soap, pesticide etc.). The substances are listed and the user can jump betwen the listed records by selecting a substance with the mouse.	X
Control of materials/substances for REACH: The EDT can be used to track substances and materials as required under the REACH regulations. This makes the tool ideal for both chemical companies and companies using chemicals in their products.	X
Generation of Material Data Sheets to the new REACH requirements: These will become a central part of REACH. Material datasheets can easily be generated in the EDT. The data can be exported, and the reports generated can be printed or saved as separate files.	X
Access to 22 external material/substance databases from within the EDT: On many of them the details from the substance record that you are looking at are automatically loaded into the search string.	X
Compatibility of plastics for recycling:The mixing of different types of plastics in a product can result in that product being uneconomical for recycling. The EDT contains an interactive table so an engineer can see what plastics can be mixed and still be compatible.	X
Inclusion of EuP standardised data: The EDT includes energy using products (EuP) standardised data and a tool to allow comparison between materials on environmental performance. Customised data can be used if preferred.	X
